Of course children should have cell phones at school! What possible trouble may they have on people by just possessing them. Cell phones have become extremely intertwined with teen life, that almost every single teenager has a cell phone. To adults, cell phones are a device used for emergencies, but to teens, we view them as a way to keep in touch. This can create conflict when cell phones are introduced to the academic environment.

I'm going to speak out of personal experience as a student in high school. Cell phones here are banned, according to school policy, meaning your allowed to possess it, but not have it on during classes. Doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of a cell phone! How should you receive calls if it is off. The cell phone issue in my school isn't really that troublesome, kids still pull out there cell phones to text or call fellow peers. Teachers and administrators still try to regulate the use of cell phones though to a minimum, but have not really caused much trouble. I even use a cell phone from time to time, even in class. It's a fun hobby to do while finished with my work, and seriously how much harm am I causing someone by just texting a friend silently.

Cell phones should not only be allowed on schools, but also be allowed to be used as a leisure activity for school. Back when I was in elementary school, teachers rewarded students that did good with time on the computers each day. School districts should use the same procedure, and let children have cell phones at school.

Of course there will be some limits to the use of phones as well, such like not being able to be used during test, or while the teacher is lecturing. This is completely disrespectful, but if students can manage to not break boundaries like these, then I see no harm in them being allowed to initiate in phone activity.

Children are becoming more and more socially active and we need a way to keep in communication. The world demands higher knowledge of technology as well, and cell phones are a necessity to most of us. They are essentially our portal to the world. Where we can contact anyone at anytime in fast access.

In my strongest opinion, phones should indefinitely be allowed in school at the least. They hold no real threat to education, if used properly. Cell phones are important and even certain individuals need it as an essential for school work. Such as teachers need phones to keep intouch, students need them for the same purpose. So why should the teachers and faculty live above the rules, while us students have to abide to them if our own staff doesn't enforce it.
