Why some people don't vote

There are lazy people in this world and some have no clue where to go when it comes to voting. I am one of those people who don't vote or rather someone who hasn't voted yet. There are many reasons why people don't vote, but only those people can truly answer this question.

The reasons why I don't vote aren't because I am lazy or I don't know where to go. It's not because it's too cold or because I cannot take off work. My reasons are what I believe in and it's those "reasons" that keep me from voting. I have to honestly say that I never complain or argue about anything that goes on within our country or world.

I don't vote therefore I cannot complain.

Before I tell you why I don't vote, let me say this: I am registered as an independent voter as I could go either way. I listen to both parties, I watch the debates, the media, read the paper, and I am involved by keeping up with what is going on. I am not in the dark and I am not uneducated. This article is "Why some people don't vote," and I am going to share why I don't vote.

1. The Media: The media is a liberated source that loves to bash people. They nit pick on every little thing people say and do. They will find ways to ruin a person's reputation and ridicule others for every little move they make. If people are going to turn to the media for their answers on who to vote for then we are not voting fairly and honestly.

2. The Papers: Reading the paper about the election and learning about a candidate within the election is not good enough for me to vote. I cannot base my judgement by what the paper says. This is a real "election," a real "debate," and I just cannot LEARN and TRUST someone through a lighted screen or a printed paper.

3. The Debate: The candidates go up and answer questions for the country to hear. Some lie, they tell you what you want to hear, and they work hard to earn your vote. To me this is phony tactics and I don't believe or trust a person if I don't KNOW them.

4. My Vote: If I decide to vote this election (08) - I don't think in the end that I will be satisfied with who I vote for. If the person I vote for goes against what they promised, makes bad choices, and turns out not to be a good President - I won't be able to forgive myself and therefore I will have lack of trust within my own judgement.

5. The People: I believe that a person should VOTE for the RIGHT person. Not because they are the same gender as you or the same culture as you. One should vote because the person who is being elected is the right man or woman for the job. Choosing a "person" to be the "President" of The Unites States is a big job for both the voter and the Future President. For me, to choose someone to be President of the Unites States is very scary. They are ONLY human.

6. Independent Voter: I could vote for either party, but when I disagree with both parties it makes it hard to choose. This leaves me undecided, and there are a lot of times I don't agree wtih both parties. If I don't agree then why would I vote for them?

We could vote for the BEST man and woman, but the truth is Congress makes the final decision not the President. So, if I were to decide to vote for the first time and continue to vote - I would vote for the best person, but that is hard to do when I never met them.
