Poetry: Storms

by Darren James Clayton

Created on: October 08, 2008   Last Updated: October 10, 2008

All is silent. A heavy anticipation lies.

It settles in the stomach,

Disturbing the undisturbed,

Quaking the senses,

Awakening the roots.

It heeds without warning,

Without waiting,

Without waning.

It's vibrations deepen the wounds.

Flash, Flash, Flash.

Its attacks are unmerciful, unmerited.

Screaming death into the night,

Its roar challenges the weak.

A cloud of darkness, hazes the light.

And the stars beyond grow faint and far,

No cries are heard where they are.

The barrier passes, to other lands.

What's left is torn, it's shadow clinging deep.

It's residual hiss lingers,

But its pain is not heard.

its shapeless form flies,

And the waters grow still.

A light is seen, as from a tunnel.

A hand is given, the storm is broken.
