Winning a presidential debate does not determine winning an election because an election is beyond style and words. It goes deep into our subconscious and the externals only transcend what is in our heart. The American people were the winners and Tom Brokaw was the most presidential. He represented every American as he articulated so well our questions. Each person was one of us and all of us were there listening yet uncertain that any candidate would say anything which would make any difference in the fall-out we have experienced in each of our pocketbook and the nation as a whole.
Fall is so very beautiful in Tennessee and this fall of 2008 is particularly soothing as we look at the changing colors of the leaves. The leaves will fall and soon it will be winter. We all celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. 2009 will come and we'll celebrate the new year with champagne. Spring will come and Tennessee will be so very beautiful again and so will our whole nation. We hope by then to have some hope as individuals and as a nation that somehow things will get better.

The more we had the more the more we were afftected, yet the pain is the same for all Americans even for those who have nothing and are homeless. You could see this feeling in all the faces of of those who were in the town hall meeting including in Mr. Tom Brokaw's. ECONOMY is overshadowing all other issues yet both candidates talked around it. No concrete solutions were given so most Americans were left with the question, can either one of them lead us out of this economic mess?
Americans who are close to Mr. Brokaw's age or older know that it took decades to get to where we find ourselves in our economy. There is plenty of blame on both sides! Some warned us but it came on deaf ears so most Americans have come to the truth and that is that our government has failed us.
Both McCain and Obama voted for the most recent bail-out while most Americans were against it. Some in congress had the courage to vote NO and we are greatful to that since at least we feel that some representatives are representing us. Yet, most of this is water over the dam. The harsh reality is that we are over 10 TRILLION DOLLARS in DEBT and neither candidate articulated how to get out of it.
Neither candidate came up with a clear strategy in how
