Love and Loneliness
Alone I sit in a dark corner
Waiting to feel a bit of sensation
From the hand that rests on the cold floor
Near my shaking feet
Knees drawn up to my chest
I tremble from the chilling air
Seeping into this darkened room
From the open window which I can no longer see
Steam floats past dry lips as I breathe
Unable to sleep through these nightmares
That I experience when I am left alone
To suffer silently in R.I.P
I am unable to move this cold dead body
It has already drifted off
To a lonely place where it feels
Only the pain from its bruises
I watch the pail hand near my feet
Inch closer as the silence allows me to
Contemplate this empty loneliness
That I have subjected myself to
Looking up at the black ceiling
I wonder to myself if the world has disappeared
Since the only thing I hear is my own heart
Beating in a body I once thought was my own
Unsure whether I should continue
Waiting patiently for a hero to rescue me
I decide to watch that pail hand move closer
To me and reach out to touch cold skin
As a single finger touches me I receive
A foreign sensation of heat
That curls through this entire body
And confuses the morbid thoughts that flow so effortlessly
Momentarily an image flashed before me
Cutting through the darkness with a piercing light
And I wonder for just a moment
Is this love?
Or is it happiness?
Has the loneliness finally left me?
Hidden in the light is the face of a person I've never seen
And there is the sound of a voice that I've never heard
And my confusion only increases as I silently wait for answers
The clear figure moves closer to me as the hand
Slides up my leg to rest on my knee
And the eyes of this figure seem to see
Straight through me
Into the blackness of my soul
That hand now rests over my heart
And its beating grows frantic with something that isn't fear
A sudden burst of light and heat is what that hand has given me
The figure smiles and those upturned lips are soon
Resting over mine, bringing heat back to
This lifeless body before the feeling suddenly
Disappears into the bright light
Though that smile never fades
My own expression becomes one of confusion
And I am quick to ask "Why?"
As the figure moves close to me again preparing to
Press our lips together once more
I am silent now, hearing only my quickening
Heartbeat and the soft sounds of a long kiss
Which has me feeling strangely awake and
A little less alone
