Poetry: Broken love

by C. Parson

Saying Goodbye

I loved you before "I don't know when"

Was considered a romantic phrase

Long before Forget-me-nots

Could claim their beautiful name

Forgive this moment of weakness

You probably like your girls strong

But each time I think of you

I feel I'm doing something wrong

Feeling this sorrowful

Is most likely a crime

But even as I'm saying this

Your heart is breaking mine

I guess I'd better pack my things

And leave this lovely place

But I really must beg you, please,

Not to look at my face

So you just keep away from me

Just leave things as they are

Maybe you'll remember

You were always my shining star

For oh so long I couldn't feel

Because I was waiting for you

And if I am to revert to emptiness

I just don't know what to do

As we are saying goodbye

I'm preying for time to stand still

And if you'd only look at me

You'd see my tears are real

And now that I know it all meant nothing

To an angel who's light was too dim

I can finally move in the right direction

To try and forget about him
