Avoid winter weight gain

Avoid winter weight gain by staying active through the cooler months. Do something everday to make sure you are getting some form of physical activity. It is cold and it is time to get cozy on the couch and start watching soap opera's, however if you are not careful, you will slowly pick up some extra gifts you didn't want like additional pounds. Here are some tips to avoiding the extra weight.

DO LEG LIFTS ON THE COUCH

While you are sitting on that cozy couch, do some quick leg lifts in between episodes of "Desperate Housewives". Do six to ten of them on each leg. You will find by doing them that you feel more flexible and energetic.

GET UP EARLY

In the winter time it is important to keep your metabolism up. Get up around 6 a.m. and do some jumping jacks and Pilate's on your living room floor. Do this for 30 minutes a day four times a week. Keeping your body active will keep the pounds off you. Try it.

TAKE A WALK

Take a nice walk everyday. You will burn some major calories. I suggest walking earlier during the day like around 8 a.m. Walking is good for your heart and your body. It is therapeutic because it helps you clear your mind for the rest of the day. In the winter it is even more important. When it is cold, bring your I Pod shuffle with you. Make it fun. you could even bring some friends along for the walk. Do what ever you need to do to keep moving.

DRINK WATER

Drinking water helps you lose weight and maintain your weight. It also helps to keep appetite down. Avoid soda and sugary drinks. They do not help you. Soda will dehydrate you, so stay away from it in the winter. Drink water every day and you will be o.k.

EAT MORE FRUIT

If you get the urge to nibble, nibble in front of the TV in some grapes or oranges. They are healthier for you and you will not have to worry about them putting as many pounds on you.

EAT BREAKFAST!

You must get into the habit of eating breakfast. When you eat a wholesome breakfast, your body does not get as hungry through out the day. Variety is also important if you want to keep your figure. Avoid foods such as whole eggs, waffles and sausage. They are loaded with saturated fat and tend to make you feel heavier. I suggest eating a combination of fruits, grains and yogurt's.

EAT LESS WHITE BREAD

Ladies we all know bread tends to make us heavy. Avoid eating too much bread in the winter. Try an alternative like Wheat grain bread. It is better for you and contains many helpful vitamins.

GO TO SLEEP!

Ladies, it is important to get plenty of rest. Getting those six to eight hours of sleep will keep you from putting on ten to 15 pounds. Your body needs to reboot and re energize. Get plenty of rest to do your best. That is what I say.
