Having never heard of or played Kudos1, I had no idea of what to expect from Kudos2 by Positech, but was anxious to find out. I am a game freak and love to find new ones. What I discovered was that this is one of the most repetitive, boring games I have ever experienced. I can't begin to imagine how it has improved from the original.
The basics:you are given a character, Jane, who is a waitress. You can rename her, change her outfit, and decide what to call her hometown. Then you are supposed to guide her through a regular work day or weekend. You decided how she will get to work,(ie. walk, taxi, etc.) and her evening and social activities. Choose wisely and she will be happy and energetic. You will know this because these words will be printed underneath her. Make a bad choice and her mood can change for the worse. The words underneath Jane will now say she is an uncultured, stressed waitress. And that's the exciting part, trying to figure out a way to get her fit and cultured. Wow!
The graphics are nothing special. They are lackluster and common. The characters are one dimensional figures who do not move. There is no scenery. There are lots of charts and graphs and things to read. She also has one dimensional friends that she can go to the theater or museum with when she has free activity time. There was sound, but like Jane, it was so forgettable that I can't remember if it was good or bad.
I have played games which are vaguely similar, like Dinner Dash, where you can change the waitress' outfit, but this game has none of the speed or entertainment value as the Dash. I have no idea how you win or if you win or what the real goal of the game is.
I would rate this game 1/5. I would never buy this game and in fact stopped playing before the end of the hour demo. If things are so boring for you that you are compelled to try this game out, I would rethink that and go read a book.
