Sit back and relax you're NOT going to die. 'Least not right now. This little card that's causing you so much grief is actually telling you that something in your life has the potential to come to an end. Could be a job, a relationship, a streak of bad luck... could be anything, but it's usually not your life.
When someone goes for a reading, it's typically because things seem out of balance and they're looking for some guidance. They want options, direction, answers. They want to know what path they should take to reach the most favorable outcome. The Death Card, depending on where it's placed, often brings a sigh of relief!
Here's an example... a woman in an abusive relationship wants out, but she fears leaving her partner for obvious reasons. The psychic is doing the popular Celtic Cross spread, and the first card she turns over is the dreaded Death Card. In this position, the card is representing the sitter, or the woman in the bad relationship. In simplest terms, it's showing how the woman feels. Trapped. Scared. Vulnerable. Dead. She feels as if her life is over. Thus the Death Card.
What if the card shows up somewhere else in the reading? The placement would alter its meaning, but it still wouldn't be predicting a physical death. Suppose it turns up at the very end of the reading, in the place of the outcome, or the results card. If all of the preceding cards revolved around the woman's relationship, the Death Card would then be informing the sitter that the relationship has the potential to end. The psychic would use her intuitive abilities, as well as her interpretation of the preceding cards, to advise the sitter. Will this be a cut-and-dry, simple break up, or will there be a few bumps along the road? That's what the card reader is there to determine. Either way, the Death Card is NOT predicting a literal death.
Like the other 77 cards in any given Tarot Deck, the Death Card has a suggestive meaning, but it's not set in stone. It merely represents the surrounding energies at the time, and holds no power itself. Therefore, you must not be afraid and cringe if this card turns up in your reading. Instead, consider where it fits in and what it's representing. Or, simply relax and wait for the psychic to give you her interpretation. I'm willing to bet it's a good one! If it's something you view as unfavorable, do not despair! Instead, allow the wisdom of the Tarot to lead you in the right direction. You have the power to make any changes you need to. The most important thing to remember is that YOU are always in control. No matter what the cards suggest, they're only there to guide you.
