Faith is the most important step to take towards loosing weight. If a person believes that prayer can help them to succeed at anything, it is already a positive step towards attaining their goal. Positivity is a strong and driving force to success, and in order to loose weight, a person must believe that they can succeed.
When people pray, they are often praying with the mindset that results will follow. A belief in whatever, or whomever they are praying to, puts them in the positive mindset to succeed by firmly planting in their mind that their goal is attainable. Most people have a hard time loosing weight because they do not believe in themselves, they do not believe that they are worthy, and they do not believe...period. Most people who pray, believe in what they are praying to, which will eventually equal results.
Lets say that I am twenty five pounds overweight. As a woman, it is most likely a relatively challenging act to loose twenty-five pounds and it will most likely be a life changing event. By setting my goal, I am psyching my mind up to attain that goal. Now despite whatever method of actually loosing weight I choose, it will most likely be a lengthy, challenging, and difficult goal to attain. Even when people feel that they must loose weight for their health, the temptation to eat too much, miss a workout, and "fall off the wagon" is often inevitable. When push comes to shove, I am most likely going to give up or loose faith before my goal is achieved. That is when prayer would come in and help out.
Prayer is number one, a stress reliever. By acknowledging fears through prayer, it releases the mind of stress which in turn alleviates stress from the body. Added stress on the body causes the accumulation of fat and also keeps the body from functioning at its maximum potential. Therefore, by relieving the mind and body of stress through prayer, it will maximize the body's potential to loose weight.
Prayer is number too an act of faith and meditation. It allows the soul and mind to believe that other forces are in control besides oneself. This in turn takes pressure off of an individual for sole responsibility to loose weight, which increases the potential success possibilities. Somewhat like the "placebo effect" prayer sets up the mind for success and puts faith in a working agent other than oneself.
Prayer is number three a motivator to keep going "when the going gets tough." The reason people fail at loosing weight is most often the failure to persevere. By giving up, people fail. Resilience is the number one tool to loose weight, and often times prayer gives people the mindset and resilience to have faith and keep going when their body wants to do otherwise. This can be seen when even nonbelievers pray for help even when they don't know whom they're praying to, or if they even believe. But yet they pray in times of need, and why? Because prayer gives people the idea that they can persevere.
Lastly, prayer is inspiring. Inspiration... the need to attain that goal, the desire to change, and the will to loose weight will take a person farther than any diet ever will. If a person is going to loose weight, they need that inspiration to take them all the way to the end! Prayer does this by creating the idea that anything is achievable if you believe badly enough, if you ask, if you try, if you want it! If you want to loose weight, then pray because it only helps to motivate and achieve.
