Is it truly necessary for a person to be born again to see the kingdom of heaven ?I would like to take this opportunity to state the obvious ,yes it is necessary to be born again to see the kingdom of God .Why do I make such a statement ?The number one reason I make such a statement is that Jesus said it ,therefore it is how it is .In the book of Saint John ,Jesus tells a religious leader named Nicodemus that you must be born again .Bear with me as I state my logic for holding with such a statement and proclaiming it to be true .
As a foundation of the Christian faith is this glorious truth .Christ Jesus is the son of God .Jesus as the son of God goes way deeper than we as frail humans understand what it means to be a son .Jesus is the son of God and has co-existed with God from everlasting to everlasting ,in other words there has never been a time when there was not only God the Father but also Jesus the son .Jesus has always been and always will be .Although He is subject to the Father ,in divinity He is equal to the Father as is the Holy Spirit ,three in one the Trinity ,God the Father ,God the Son ,and God the Holy Spirit .Therefore ,since Jesus is fully God ,then whatever He says is unconditionally ,absolutely true for it is impossible for God to lie .This is a simplistic approach but the only logical approach if we believe the bible to be inspired by God and believe that Jesus is who He says He is .Without embracing Jesus as who He says He is ,and embracing His words as absolute truth we have no reason to pursue the Christian faith .There we be no point in following Jesus if there is any element of falsehood or any chance that He erred in any of the things that He taught .
So this is my logic for believing that we must be born again .It is a logic based upon the absolute truth of God and the record of His son .It is a logic based upon the all the evidences that we have for the Christian faith .The historical fact that Jesus existed ,that He died ,and that He rose from the dead validating His claim that He was indeed the Son of God .
In closing I would like to say this about being born again .We are born the first time into this world as the union of flesh and blood .Through that union we inherit the sin of our ancestor Adam .We are sinners by nature and are at odds with God .Christ came to restore us to our original state before sin entered the world ,a place where man enjoyed unhindered fellowship with God .Being born again is the process by which we our made a new creature in Christ .When Jesus calls us to Him and we respond in faith and trust Him as our Lord and Savior then the our spirit which is one with Gods Spirit is born .This is our second birth .
