Going Through The Motions
Cigarettes don't give me the same thrill as they use to,
Still I light them up to watch them burn.
Coffee is bitter when it crosses my tongue,
Lacks the ability to put in focus each blurry day that passes through my fingertips.
Each day is a rerun of the one that has just passed,
I numbly act out my role,
Not much thought for the reasons why,
Just existing,
Wanting,
Longiong for more.
Just wishing I could feel anything but pain,
Anything that would make this life more beautiful before my eyes.
I'm just going through the motions,
Pretending to live my life on the outside,
While my heart cries out for purpose within.
Just wishing there was more than what it seems,
Instead of just going through the motions like everyone else.

In the mirror
