I told you my heart was tender
But that didn't stop you from shaking it
I told you it needed some mending
But that didn't stop you from breaking it
This all started so sweet
But then suddenly turned into frustration
Our perceptions of each other
Left us full of such aggravation
Your pride combined with my paranoia
Was a recipe for disaster
But your "arrogant mind" and my "anxious heart"
Found a way soon after
You gave me no relief
From my feelings of despair
And all that time you spent chasing me away
I somehow still ended up there
I began giving up
And you started giving in
I was able to open my mind
To your heart that you refuse to let win
And you opened up your heart
To my mind that was searching for a connection
Somehow this ended up
With such a beautiful self-reflection
And an understanding of each other
That has filled the gap between you and me
Making us both appreciate
A bond that lets us both see
Each other for who we are
And what we are is what we feel
All I can say is what I feel towards you
Is something very real.
