There are so many variables
This has become so completely unpredictable
The inconsistency could drive me mad
But it's taking me somewhere else
Somewhere I am not used to going
A winding road of ups and downs
Where nothing is certain
Everything is erratic, uneven, ever-changing
But this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
You've slammed a door in my face
Left me stunned and breathless
Feeling somehow comfortably numb
But still uneasy, not completely placid
Questions continue to encircle my head
But they are slowing, calming
Not falling into place
But falling somewhere into space
And this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
I seem to have all the pieces scattered amongst me
I don't know which goes where
I am still trying to put this puzzle together
There are so many variables
This has become so completely unpredictable
But there should be only one ending result
Or at least that's what they tell me
Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?
Because this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
Where did you come from?
And why are you here?
You caught me in the midst of my wandering
I was searching for something
But now I've forgotten what it was
This has become so completely unpredictable
The inconsistency could drive me mad
And you give me no relief
But this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
Were you really able to see through me so soon?
Could you see right through the science of my eyes?
I haven't felt this close to anyone
Yet at the same time, so far apart
And now you're taking me somewhere else
Somewhere I am not used to going
A winding road of ups and downs
Where I've come to find that relief is only temporary
And this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
Nothing is certain
Everything is erratic, uneven, ever-changing
Should I run away?
Should I guard my heart?
Will I ever find the consistency I've been looking for?
Because I still feel like a piece of this puzzle is missing
So close, yet so far apart
And I don't know what will fill the space in between
Because this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
I'm trying to knock down this door you've slammed in my face
The effort is leaving me stunned and breathless
Makes me want to sink down onto the floor
Feeling somehow comfortably numb
Is this the art of giving up?
Is anything worth fighting for?
That question leaves me uneasy
The thought could never make me placid
But this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
These questions will never leave my head
Should I stay or should I go?
Am I running circles around you?
If so, I know I'm slowing, calming
Nothing is falling into place
It's all falling somewhere into space
Will I ever find the answers I've been looking for?
You caught me in the midst of my wandering
And this is the way the world spins, isn't it?
I was searching for something
But now I've forgotten what it was
Is this the art of giving up?
Or am I solely giving in?
I don't want to stay but I don't want to go
You're slowing me down, calming me down
But something tells me I should guard my heart
Will we forever be this close, yet still so far apart?
I don't know, nothing is certain
Because this is the way the world spins, isn't it?

In fuzzy blue attire)
