Why is it that people who have a belief in a higher power are more likely to lose weight than someone who tries to achieve it with their own strength?
Losing weight is just a tiny part of the complete package that you receive when you put your trust in Someone infinitely more reliable than yourself. He doesn't wave a magic wand though - It's a two way street.
It's learning that the true highway to freedom, fitness and wellbeing is via self discipline - a dirty word in today's climate of encouraging extreme self-indulgence.
Is it any wonder that we're all overweight as we fly round like hamsters on a treadmill - only pausing to grab a take-away when we remember that we have to eat.
In the midst of the frantic hub - bub of this world just close your eyes and ask for guidance - He won't deny you. You will find an oasis of calm in the midst of the storm. A calmness that will affect all and everything that you touch.
Creature of habit that you are - these will be tempered and you will be saved from the excesses that plague the Western world.
Your children will benefit greatly from your new found peace as you give more of your time and attention to the things that really matter. They will copy your good habits and improve in their schoolwork. Their home will become a sactuary from the frightening world outside and your combined family strength will enrich all that you meet.
All this is true -I do not lie. All these treasures are there for your taking. You just have to tap into the right source.
So how does losing weight come into the picture?
As your pace slows down maybe you will eat more regular meals. A proper breakfast would be a good start. Bran Flakes with fresh seasonal fruit and a little milk will set you up till lunchtime.
Cutting back on bread will see you lose a few pounds. Try an open sandwich on one slice of bread instead of two. Lots of fruit and vegetables and water will make your skin glow and increase your vitality.
Take time to enjoy your food. Diets never work - unless you change your lifestyle you will always return like a bad penny back to your original weight.
Be realistic. Celebrities should not be used as role models because at the end of the day there are no miracle cures to make us change our bad habits only a continual seeking to be as God intended -happy, healthy and fulfilled.
In conclusion I am no stick insect that has found a heavenly body by constant supplication to Him - but a slightly plump grandmother of seventy.
So get your priorities right and your weight will find it's natural proper place in your life.
