Poetry: Time

by Molly Smith

WHEN TIME IS FORGOTTEN, IT LASTS

I wish that people wouldn't say they are to busy to do special things,

You can be busy doing chores any day, but rare events are just rare,

They'll be looking back at all the opportunities they've missed year after year, again and again,

Missing special times with people they cared about- something that would have been important to the relationship,

They will promise their kids something to give them hope, and then break their promise later,

Their child is hurt again and again,

And cannot trust promises from anyone through their life,

All those times when someone was busy left them terribly achingly lonely,

Lonely, that's what happens to everyone when people are to busy,

When people say they are to busy life passes them by,

Day after day turns into year after year,

It just flies by,

And others die.

I think what the world needs is everyone to start to weigh what is more important,

And forget about time sometimes,

I think it would make us more sensitive people,

When we aren't worrying about what time it is,

Then it would bring us all closer again.
