An engrossing family drama with a twist, Gilmore Girls will have you hooked from start to finish. Its a show which holds your attention throughout the entire episode, and leaves you wanting more. Its fast paced, witty script, jam-packed with pop-culture references will hold you in awe, whilst the dramatic plot lines compete for your attention. And as if that wasn't more than enough to create a satisfactory program, the characters on this amazing show will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotion as you relate to them. Definitely one for the chicks, Gilmore Girls will have you laughing, crying, smiling as you watch and always coming back for more.
You can catch a random episode of Gilmore Girls and instantly appreciate the humour of the program. Its simplicity makes it an easy show to tune into half way through a season, however to get the most out of the show its best to watch it all - pilot to finale.
Centred around a single mother Lauralie, and her gifted daughter Rory, the show will draw you in from the very beginning. Watch as in the very first episode Lauralie finds herself at her rich parents' elegant doorstep, asking them for a loan in order to pay for her daughter's private school tuition. You will see the very first hints as to the deep-seeded issues which haunt this disfunctional family. We all love a bit of conflict, and Gilmore Girls supplies plenty. Enjoy friday night dinners at the grandparents' house, which Lauralie and Rory are forced to attend as a condition of the loan. Forget dessert, dinner is guarenteed to end in a battle of wills taking place at the dining room table.
Watch the girls blossom into women, with their complicated realationships. Rory's ever so sweet Dean, and later bad boy Jess provide a bit of eye candy. Lauralie's complicated realationship with friend Luke is also fun to watch, as are her various boyfriends such as Max and Jason. And just when things become simple, you can always count on a visit from Rory's dad Christopher to stir things up.
The show then takes a break from all the conflict and romance, with some much needed comic relief. Marvell at Stars Hollow, the tiny town complete with wacky townies, such as Taylor, the irritating Mayor, the always strange Kirk, dance teacher Miss Patty and neighbour Babette, who share far to much information about there men, and lots more.
With just the right amount of all the best ingredients, Gilmore Girls is a terrific television show and its a pity that with eight great seasons it has finally drawn to a close.
