PASSION
My thirst screams for water,
but finds only the salt of my tears.
Blood leaves my body,
faster now,
liberating my lungs from
this painful breath.
I open my vision and search for an Answer
within my Flesh, where,
but for a moment,
I see my veins pulsating with the brightness
I have come to release.
Blood spills out,
and is replaced by a Light
that covers the earth
with a layer of grace,
awakening every creature from the prison of its dark slumber.
I have fulfilled my promise,
dearest One.
I have come to bring You home, all of You,
and grant You perfect safety from Your illusions of death.
My bones ache with Your pain and despair,
as I struggle to take in my last breath.
My limbs cling to the wood of the Cross,
not because of the iron that binds them to It,
but because I hesitate to leave You,
so great is the love I feel for You.
But the red curtain in front of my eyes is lifted
and there is no more blood left to bleed.
I ask my Father whether I should leave now
or if there is anything else I can do
to help You on your journey.
I look at Mary one more time,
and for a moment I rejoice,
in the memory of Her softness.
I bless Her,
and my Mother,
and my People,
and my Land.
I tremble,
and cry my last tear.
Then my Heart shatters into the Light.
It is done.
I am held in the arms of an Angel so beautiful,
but only for an instant,
as I cross the threshold
between Life and Death.
And then I Am.
