Poetry: My one and only love

by Ron Robbins

When you're not around,
Not sharing company,
I think about my life,
The darkness I have seen.

All my dividends,
Far below the means.
Everything seems hopeless,
Boiling without steam.
And then I see your smile.
Heaven's shining a reminder
That life is still worthwhile.

Your whisper in the air,
The thoughts beneath your gaze,
The way you part your hair.
All the things you do,
Remind me just how much,
I want to be with you.

I dream of us together,
I dream of destiny.
I don't know if it's weathered,
It's surely not to me.
I think the way things are,
Are not how they should be.

Nobody else comes close,
I just wanted you to know,
While my feelings are verbose.
From all of you I've seen
I need to let you know,
Exactly what you mean.

To him you may be nothing.
To him you are a toy,
But let me tell you something,
To me you are a queen.
You are my life and death,
And everything between.
