THE POOR WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU J.C.
FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE, MORE WILL BE GIVEN, AND THEY WILL HAVE AND ABUNDANCE; BUT FROM THOSE WHO HAVE NOTHING, EVEN WHAT THEY HAVE SHALL BE TAKEN AWAY J.C.
These two powerful quotes should tell you that povery will never be eliminated. However in the interest of making a comment related to poverty, I decided to write this article.
There are many kinds of poverty that lead to other kinds of poverty, especially the economic kind which I believe is referred to in the question. If you are poor in trustworthiness, you will eventually lose your capability to be hired in any job. Thus a poor level of trustworthiness could lead to an economic poverty level as defined by the government in our country. But this is not whole picture this question covers. To ask this question,"what if poverty is eliminated," is the same as asking, "what if the rich were to be eliminated?" There is more to it. READ ON MY FELLOW MAN, READ ON!
Before I try to comment on the question, "What if poverty is eliminated," I believe that I should attempt to define the concept of poverty so that I can make the appropriate comment. I also presume that the question is referring to poverty in America, and not poverty in the world.
As I have stated, there are many definitions of poverty: the government (from the point of view of politicians) has its own definition, including what the term rich or well-to-do implies, the rich (the have a lot's) have their own definition of poverty in addition to what being rich means, and the poor have their own definition even though they may not have a definition for the term "rich!" I have my own definition and so do my friends; I suppose that you the reader also have your own too.
Another point to remember is that poverty and richness are two forms of the same component: the society, in this case, the United States of America. The law of conservation of wealth and opportunity applies in our society like in any society. Where wealth appears, it is because it disappeared from those who have less! Wealth is distributed through a hierarchy of power in a society via the government. In our case, whoever controls the power in Washingto D. C., controls the price and the wheeling and dealing in Wall Street in favor of those who have the money to make money. Now, is it safe to say that if povery is to be eliminated, the rich would be eliminated too!...Wouldn't lowering the price of goods make me richer and less poor? READ ON MY FELLOW MAN,
