I've heard a lot of the talk radio shows lately going on and on and ON about the same things . . . every day. I've come to the conclusion that if you have an opinion and can talk endlessly about everything from Whack-a-Mole to the color of the carpet then you can have your own show too.
And if you can call someone nifty names off the top of your head, well that's all the better. You get mucho bonus points for that. Or is it just more Talking Points? I'm confused.
All sarcasm aside (well, at least most), many of the talk radio shows do a fine job of informing the public of facts that regular media ignore. I'm convinced that the mainstream media only floats downstream. The majority of their new stories come from, guess where, other news sources. Don't believe me? Check out your local newspaper. Count how many articles are from local reports, then count how many come from the Associated Press (AP). Anyway, back to the talk radio hosts. There comes a point that all of them go a little overboard with it. In fact, some lately have been nearly drowning.
Throw out the lifeline! Send in the rescue divers! (But not for $700B. I'm sure resuce divers are as underpaid as the rest of us normal people). I'm ready for somebody, anybody really, to have some real answers for our country. Throwing buckets of dollars down the toilet will not help much. At least, it will not help ME much and a whole lot of people just like me. It might help those who would have lost one million of their 50 million dollars. I'm real happy for them. Maybe they could share the wealth.
Frankly I'm a bit tired of hearing that "We need CHANGE." CHANGE this and CHANGE that. This candidate is for more change than the other one. My change is better than yours. I don't know about anyone else, but I need more than just change; I could use some dollars too. This big change that everyone keeps talking about has never been defined that I know of. Does this mean that our Congress will work better? (HA!) Will the government stop wasting our money? Or is the big CHANGE something more subtle that only the candidates will know about it? Maybe the real change they want is a change of residence - like the White House, or maybe it would be better defined as a change in power.
Come closer, I have a secret for you. If you say it loud enough, long enough, and often enough, not all of the people will still be listening.
