As another winter approaches, take a new positive approach to slow down the annual yo-yo weight gain syndrome and avoid the annual January diet. Gaining weight during the colder months is quite the norm for most people, so you are not alone.
Those residing in warmer climates, such as California and Florida, have a tendency to gain weight during this time period and only rebuff the belief that it is only climate related. Perhaps the on-start of the one holiday after another is the culprit.
To eliminate this annual gain and possibly even drop a few, you have to understand what really packs on the pounds for you. Try incorporating these tips to help you avoid the pitfalls from the past.
The winter in many areas brings on cold, nasty weather conditions and shorter days. During these times, it only seems natural and comfortable to remain under a blanket. But the human species has no need to either hibernate or do to build up fat as bears do. The bottom line is to keep your body moving.
- Get Physical
Physical activities are somewhat non-existent during the winter months, unless you are an avid skater or skier. Since most physical activity levels drops, our natural inclination is to stay within our homes, rest and sometimes eat more than normally.
Many experts recommend sixty minutes of moderate activity daily. Of course, your first reaction may be, 'I don't have time.' By changing your lifestyle in small and minor ways can uncover time well spent.
Break up exercising in ten minute increments throughout the day. You will total sixty minutes a day effortlessly and develop the habit of being active without really trying.
Once you have mastered that, look to build even more activity into your long winter days. Remember that by increasing your level of physical activity, you can do away with potential weight gain.
Other ideas to utilize to increase activity include:
Sign up with a gym during October before the January rush and stick with it.
Obtain a stationary bicycle using it while watching TV.
Using the stairs, over an escalator in stores and malls not only burns the calories but firm up the buns.
If you reside in a city, depart the subway or bus one stop before and walk the rest of the way.
Park your auto in the spot furthest away from the building you're going to and walk.
Talk business over a walk instead of over a doughnut and a coffee.
- Lower Food Intake
Beginning with Halloween, compounded by Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, birthdays and all the way through Easter; food
