Tips for avoiding gallstones

by Brigett Hurley

Created on: October 03, 2008

My painful experience with gallstones. Right after I gave birth to my third child, a healthy baby boy.

I left the hospital the next day and about three days later, I started having these painful sensations in the mid upper section of my abdomen, and my upper back, in the mid section as well. I was horrified. My son was four weeks old, and the pain continued day after day. I went to a chiropractor, because I figured I needed an adjustment. I even went to a natural doctor, and I still could not get rid of the pain. The chiropractor nor the natural doctor couldn't tell me what was going on.

The pain was worst than labor pains. Eating was out of the question.

Lastly, I went to the emergency hospital, and the doctors took many tests, and said, I had gall stones. They mentioned how easy the procedure was to remove the gall bladder through the belly button, and that I should remove it as soon as possible.
I was in the hospital for four days on liquids, and this helped tremendously with relieving the pain, it also gave me time to think if removing my gall bladder was a good idea. I said, "God put it there for a reason." I was keeping my gall bladder!

I left the hospital and started cleansing my colon with herbal cleansers and colon hydrotherapy, and searching for other alternatives. I started drinking lots of water with lemon, and eliminating greasy fatty foods. I also drank pure carrot juices and vitamins that would clean my liver and nourish my body. Eating ice or drinks with ice would irritate my gall bladder, so I was drinking warm herbal teas and temperature drinks.

The exercise, vitamins, healthy eating habits, colon cleansers and reducing stress in my life helped save my gall bladder. I read articles such as, the one your reading right now, read books on the subject, often visited my nearest health store, and contacted homeopathic and natural doctors.

I was overweight when I was pregnant, so being overweight can also be a factor in gallstones. Life is too short to not find out what is going on with the body, and how to keep what you already have. I have a few friends that had to remove their gall bladders, because it was very severe.

I was only 33 years-old at the time this occurred, and now I'm 41, and I felt there was no reason for what was going on in my body. It took three years to really get my bladder back to normal. I can honestly say that those three years were worth it. I can appreciate my gall bladder and all my body parts.
