In today's society, it is common for any woman to get an abortion when they feel it is necessary. The public's view on abortions is usually influenced by either religious or political factors. Personally, I think that abortions are a lame excuse for women to not take care of their responsibilities. It's ironic how bold enough women are to have unprotected sex with their male partners, but lack the same courage to raise a child. The most common excuse for women to get an abortion is because they feel that they are not ready to become a parent. Any sane individual who is familiar with sexual education knows that the whole purpose of sex is to reproduce.
Within the last five years, I have talked to various women who have gotten abortions. For example, one claimed that she got an abortion because she did not want to ruin her college plans. Another woman claimed that she received one because she did not want to disappoint her father and church congregation by having a child out of wedlock. Much to my surprise, not one of them mentioned having any regrets about getting an abortion. To these women, getting an abortion was the best decision to make at the time. Firmly, I am a supporter of women's rights in the United States of America, but some lines shouldn't be crossed. Killing is killing; a woman killing her unborn child is no different than a man killing a store clerk during a burglary.
Abortions can wisely be avoided if women give up their children for adoption after giving birth to them. In more extreme conditions such as rape, adoption is still an option. All unwanted children in the world deserve to be raised in home where they will receive love, something that their biological parents cannot provide them. Not every woman alive is able to conceive children due to biological reasons, so there are plenty of women who have a desire to be a mother and are willing to adopt.
As long as abortions are legal in the U.S. and women have the financial resources to pay for them, I do not see them diminishing anytime soon in the near future. Regardless of my stance on the topic, it is still a woman's choice on whether or not she wants to have an abortion for her unborn child. I just hope that women in this situation take the time to consider the long-term effects of having an abortion. Getting pregnant is not the end of the world for a woman, contrary to belief. Overall, an abortion teaches a woman how to hide behind her problems instead of facing them with dignity.
