mal-investment into unprofitable industries. In a capitalist society, there wouldn't be enough investors investing in a poorly performing industry to cause a wide spread depression. The reason that investments such as this are often made is because of government subsidies and guarantees. When those guarantees or subsidies suddenly fall short of what the industry is doing, then a depression or recession is caused. In a capitalist society it is unlikely that an entire industry would fail without some excellent reason, thereby negating the possibility of a major nationwide depression.
Another argument often used against capitalism is that it abolishes the public school system, and a "free" education for all children. If I send my child to a private school and that school is not doing things the way I think they should be (whether it's not challenging enough, giving too much homework, the lunch menu sucks, or any other reason), I can take my child out of that school and stop paying their tuition. If enough parents do the same, that school will either have to change what they're doing, or they will go out of business. If I disagree with what a public school is doing, I can take my child out of that school and either homeschool or send them to private school, but I'm still forced to pay for that school for other children. I don't have the option to stop paying my taxes in order to remove funding from that school. Often, if my property taxes or other education-funding taxes are high enough, I might not have enough money left over to send my child to private school. Maybe my child has a disability and isn't getting enough attention or help at the public school and would be much better served by a private school or private tutor. Maybe my child is incredibly gifted and isn't being challenged enough in public school, and would be better off with a private tutor or private school. Either way, I still have to fund the public schools so that my neighbors kids can have a "free" education. The public schools in this country are not doing particularly well in most areas, but they have no real incentive to improve, because they will always have funding through tax money. With a "free" education, you get what you pay for.
A true capitalist society does not have minimum wage laws. One major problem with minimum wage laws is that it makes a portion of the population unemployable. The higher the minimum wage, the higher the unemployable percentage. If the minimum wage is set to
