Gloves are a very personal item of clothing or accessory. So when you are deciding what type, colour or style gloves to purchase for someone you need to keep this in mind. You should know how to buy the right gloves for the right person and this means understanding their personality.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

Ask yourself first if Gloves are really the gift you want to give. If you're still certain that that's what you want to get then make a list of the distinct characteristics and personlaity traits of the person receiving the gloves e.g. outgoing, shy, introverted, playful, spontaneous etc. This list will become your requirements list and guide to buying gloves by personality. The idea with the list is that when you are determining if a pair of gloves is the right kind for this person that you can tick off against the items from your list. The more you tick off, the more you know you're on the right track.

Now you're ready to shop!

At the store, whip out your peronalised 'requirements' list. When browsing through gloves and checking out the various styles, colours, fabrics and textures ask if they match the list items you've written down.

For example, if the person you're buying gloves for always wears dark colours and is pretty much afraid of wearing anything bright and is shy of other people, dont think you're doing them a favour by buying them a rainbow coloured pair of gloves. These gloves will draw attention to them and probably cause them some embarrasment, and push them further into their own personal bubble than they already are. Rather look at the plain colours and fabrics that could be worn on any occasion and that don't draw too much attention. Buying gloves for shy people could be more difficult that buying gloves for outgoing people.

On the other side of the scale, when purchasing gloves for someone that has an outgoing personality and is unafraid of what people think, you pretty much have carte blanche because these folks will wear anything. Be sure to get a matching scarf to go with your gift!
