I have seen channeling described as someone "accessing energies with which they do not personally identify". This is an extremely apt and concise interpretation of the word and activity. I really couldn't define it any better myself, so I won't even try. The thing is, we ALL channel, all the time. We are just not normally all that aware of it; and in the mainstream view of the world, if one DOES identify oneself as doing so, they generally want to find a "cure" as opposed to finding out what it actually happening with them. It can be frightening to the uninitiated, and it can be unnerving even amongst those who consider themselves to be more knowledgeable concerning the subject.

What I mean by "we all channel, all the time" is that we have a consensus reality into which we all plug ourselves. We all have standardized agreements on what IS and what IS NOT; we are all in accord as to this thing being "blue" or that thing being "a rock". One may say that's because we are TAUGHT such from a very young age. I suggest it is not ONLY because of that, but also because we are immersed in the concepts, on an energetic level, that we are able to comprehend and devise these understandings and agreements for ourselves and between each other. If one goes to a foreign country and begins to learn their terms for "blue" and "a rock", it seems strange and alien - not only because the WORDS are different, but because the TONE of the thing is different, the perception is not completely aligned with our previous comprehension. The native people in that other country "feel" and "see" these things based on a different local history and overall perception of reality.

Modern science is quick to explain that all matter is energy, that we, ourselves, are largely swirling masses of energetic particles within a cohesive construct. We do not yet scientifically understand that construct and how it actually operates, but from a pure science point of view, it is a fact. Nothing "solid" is actually "solid". It is all energy in compact form to create the illusion of density. Funny how they never go on to the next step to actually explain that what that means is that all physical matter is constantly interacting on all levels at all times, energetically. When you sit on a large rock, you leave energetic bits of yourself behind on the rock, and take energetic bits of the rock with you when you leave. We think of some of these more physically recognized "particles" on the more mundane level as "skin
