Reflections: The power of faith

by Dewy Morris

Created on: October 03, 2008

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith coupled with a determined unshakeable belief in ones core desires have literally enabled some of the most ordinary people to accomplish some of the most extraordinary things. Stories range from supernatural help from angelic beings to recovering from impossible insurmountable odds from serious accidents to completely rebuilding the human body. I don't think that divine intervention is always the cause of our unexplainable ability to overcome some of the most impossible obstacles we may face in life. Although I do believe in divine intervention whether we seek such or it is ordered on our behalf from some other outside source beyond our awareness or control. When we are born we came equipped to do whatever we were destined for, our mission in life with a mandate that could not be stopped or altered if we focused all of our energy on our core desires; what really motivates us no matter what the circumstances are that we may face whether fate or destiny.

In recent years there has been a growing interest in the power of the human mind. It has been said whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve. There are certain laws that govern the universe. In the beginning when G-D created the heavens and the earth he laid down certain laws in order to establish perfect harmony without chaos. Some of those laws are obvious like for instant the laws of aero dynamics, laws of gravity and the laws of nature that separate humans from animals and plant life. I don't think Adam when he came back from his task of naming all of the animals in his quest for a suitable help meet had his arm warped around an orangutan. Man understood the laws of nature. Laws that govern the universe are more apt to go unnoticed until something challenges it. No one would have ever thought that man could fly until he began studying the very creature that dominated the sky. Man got the idea from the birds that it was possible to fly but how did they do it? After trial and error man realized there was something there that governed the sky. There were two natural laws that he had to learn to work in conjunction with or defy; the laws of gravity and the laws of aero dynamics. In his persistent or as in religious terms of "faith" he learned the ruling factors or principles that made up the laws. Inventing the airplane he discovered that by wings and a tail like that of a bird he was able to utilize the winds and ride on
