Tips for keeping your house clean

A messy, dirty house is something that I don't think any one likes to have. Not only does it look better to have a clean house when unexpected guests come over, but it also feels much nicer to live in. Keeping our houses clean can also help keep away germs that could affect our health, and help prevent unpleasant odors. A clean house is easier to live in, and is altogether much more pleasant.

It's one thing to want a clean house, and it's another to to keep a clean house. We get caught up in work, play and various activities, and our houses work their way to being messier and messier. Fortunately, there are ways to make keeping our houses clean much easier, so we can be free to pursue other things in life besides cleaning the bathrooms, again!

1) Keep down
the clutter.

This helps tremendously when it comes to keeping your house clean. There more there is in the house, the more there is to keep track of and clean. If your house is full of miscellaneous junk, consider finding a book on decluttering your house. This will make all house-cleaning much easier.

2) Simple daily cleaning.

Simple chores done each day will make bigger, longer chores less frequent. Doing things like wiping down your bathroom counter, making your bed, and sweeping the kitchen floor every day will make a big difference in how clean your house will look and feel all the time. You know how your bathroom counter can look after just one week of daily use? If it is wiped down daily, with just a damp paper towel for instance, the result will be a cleaner (and much nicer to use) counter all week long, that will take just seconds to clean when it's time for weekly cleaning.

Picking up basic messes every day keeps things looking tidy. It is helpful to have a specific time when you straighten everything up. Morning or nighttime is usually the best. That way your house either gets cleaned up right away, or you can wake up to a clean house.

3) Have a list of other chores.

For chores that occur weekly or less often than that, it is most helpful to keep a list of what needs to be done, and it is also helpful to note when you should do them. Spreading weekly chores out among different days can be a very good idea, and prevent making one day be very busy with often jobs that seem daunting when lined up together. Some people like to have a special day for chores, but if you do not, you may want to consider making cleaning less of a hassle by spreading it to different times. You may want to vacuum the carpets
