It isn't impossible to starting an article business on a shoestring budget if you have the right creative marketing plan, the writing skills, an effective network and a vast reservoir of determination and tenacity.

A clear and comprehensive marketing plan means you would have to formulate a doable marketing idea based on your budget. Your idea may be having a simple website designed, displaying your best written works and inviting your other writer friends to write along with you and "market" all your works by referrals, networking, and even businesses. You could make your own reviews of products in the market and offer them to marketeers in exchange for a little cash and their ads on your writing business website.

The key however is to get good "killer" writers. Those who can make impressive copy enough to assure your prospective clients that you are a dependable source of great copy. Most products, particularly the new ones in the market, need these reviews and would gladly pay to have the "rights" to use a good detailed review of their products. Aside from product reviews there are other things you can "sell" in your article writing business.

You can sell articles AS IS for other people's blogs. Most bloggers who wish to have an impressive "start" would pay you something like 10-20 dollars for great blog copy. If you manage to convince about 10 good writers you can go on something like a cooperative business venture to sell each articles on the site. The easiest way to sell is to use networking groups like Facebook and My Space and communicate with group organizations online and offer them your services. Refer them to your website so they can see the quality of the service and articles you are offering.

Give out to get back. One website, for instance, asks you for tips and pays you 3 dollars per tip "if they like it". Of course, it's pretty obvious that these sites are making a book by using your tips, but that too, is a good business idea. In effect, they "buy" the rights to your tip to make a book which they sell as hard copy. Anyone can do something similar, by specifying, fo rinstance, the particular "expertise" of your top book. For instance : "Tips for Gardeners", "Tops for Homemakers", or a more general "Tips for Practical Home Living".
