ON BEING A WOMAN
Attempts are made to define your role, your purpose.
causing you despair, anxiety, shame, unease, and strife.
Though you're often drained from all the hats you wear,
yet, you carry on because you have much to offer in life.
You are the sun by day and the moon by night,
to the tiny lives you helped to create and shape.
No job requires so much, yet offers such joy,
no costs too great, this charge you'll never forsake.
Days are spent meeting needs and desires of others;
yet, you fight for attention, a mere second or two.
The desire from the imperfect, demands perfection,
so you diet and exercise; even then, smiles are few.
Your many faces are average, wanton, pretty and majestic
as you navigate your way between many vices and humility.
You are moderator, mediator, arbitrator; negotiator, lover
yet, where is little tolerance when you become a bit testy?
You often advise the Chief from the back of the room,
minimizing your own hard work just to become a part.
Treading this fence, you move on, not always so easily.
You speak, others hear, but never listen to your heart.
The female part of you have created and nourished
And Nations rose and fell from prodigies you produced.
So take credit for your labor; appreciate your efforts,
stand and fight, or you will see all your labors reduced.
You direct the boardroom, you're wanton in the bedroom;
you're a leader, you're a victor, yet rarely compensated.
It's time to honor your uniqueness, your worth, the real you.
Realize your value and ensure never again is it underrated.

In a woman's world, there would be no greed.
No pain from planting jealous seeds.
