Mans Best Friend The Dog For Good Reason!

My husband and I have two wonderful dogs, neither of which would hurt a fly! (I probably shouldn't mention that to an intruder.) Tonka, a very handsom and playful, tan and white, English staffashire bull terriror - and Panda, a beautiful and mellow, black and white, American pittbull terrior. These adored members of my family have been very well socialized and are extremly well manored. They love kids, adults, travel, and of course play!

I live in the country, and a 911 call will bring help here in 45 minutes to an hour. By then I've either handled the problem or I'm dead. I never lock my doors, one of the perks of living in the country, and I've never had a problem. If someone pulls into my drive way, walks around my yard, or just stands infront of my house for what the animals consider to be to long of an appropriate time, there is instant noise and a lot of it! Now granted if you just walk up to the dogs and pet them they will shut up and try to engage you in a game of ball or maybe just have you give them a good belly rub - however I think someone with ill intentions would just rather walk away. Most crimes happen because opportunity is ripe, most people with ill intent don't want to deal with a barking dog.

Dogs offer so much more than an alarm system ever could - FOR MY LIFE STYLE. They go for walks with me, we play together, we travel together, they make me laugh when I'm down, and they just make my life better. That being said there are some people, that for very good reason, just should NOT own a dog. There is nothing wrong with not owning a dog it's usually for very good reason. Some people, even in the country, should go with an alarm. If you just don't have the time - dogs do need alot of attention, trainning, and socializing. If you don't have the money - food, vet bills, containment system ie. fence, house, ect. Or if just the 24 seven apptitude of dealing with a dog isn't in you right now then you really need to consider waiting untill you can offer a better enviorment for the pet. If your considering a dog strickly for protection, your probably making a hugh mistake! Get a gun! If you have a young baby it's probable not a good time to go pick out a new puppy.

I would never give up my babies, they bring to much enrichment into my life, they make my family so much more complete, and then there's the added bonus of them being the best alarm system, for my life style, that money can buy!
