Who doesn't dream of having it all. I know I do. Being able to find the balance between your job and your life come down to a few crucial decisions. First, remember that you are just one person doing both.Accept it.Incorporate a strong mindset and use the word NO' often.
Now that you know you can't manage a balance between your work and your life you need to a build a different mindset. The one you are currently using isn't working so well. Let's try something new. Commit to yourself that you will be fully committed 100% at work, when you are there, and 100% committed at home, when you are there. If you are even 1% uncommitted in either you will fail. Not for lack of trying, but for lack of commitment.
Don't go home and tell your family "I am only 99% committed to you today". That is unacceptable and certainly there is a high rate of possibility that the next day you come home the house maybe empty. Ask yourself if that is the type of commitment you would want. If the answer is no, why would you give it. Don't go into work ill prepared for your daily tasks. Know going in that you have to finish your task and don't let the little things at work take you in. The constant socializing and negative talk. Your motivation is having that balance you so truly desire. Make the final commitment now, to achieve it.
Now you are 100% committed. Try using 'No' more often. We come from a society of over achievers. Nothing wrong with that, except just like the supermodels of the world it is only meant for the few. The best way to get yourself where you want to be in life is to eliminate the need to do everything. Don't work all day, to come home and expect to be able to cook, clean and run off to some other event. Know your limits and draw the line. If you don't who will.
Say 'No' to home-cooked meals every night. Home-cooked meals are great. Just don't force yourself to believe that you have to do that every night. Especially, if you are having to choose between spending that extra hour with your family or that hour in the kitchen. Prepare meals in advance and freeze them. The best way to do that without having to dedicate a whole day to cooking is cook a larger amount of the same thing when you are already cooking. And a prepackaged dinner will save you time as well. Some of them are really good. Do the home-loved meals on your day off.
Say No' to the cleanest home in the neighborhood. Be okay with the fact that 5 out of 7 days your home will not be perfect. The best
