Getting "paid" to click

Maybe you've wondered about so-called "paid-to-click" websites at one time or another. Maybe you've dismissed them as scams. Maybe you've tried one, and had your worst suspicions confirmed. Or maybe you've never even heard of these self-proclaimed online money machines before.

Whatever the reason you're reading, I'm here to tell you that while it is true that like every other "opportunity" online, the vast majority of these are just hare-brained schemes or quick con jobs, PTC can generate real money - and a lot of it. But that's only if you find the right website, one with a legit operation behind it, if you have the patience to bear it out, and if you can tolerate the multitude of headaches that will inevitably plague you as you go about the business of making "fast cash".

PTC is a lot like prospecting for gold - only a very few will ever strike it rich, even in a prime location, and it is never "easy money". But before you can even get started, you need to know where to dig.

I also found several "independent" reviews of many of the most popular PTC sites, but every one I came across was authored by god-knows-who. There too, reliability was an issue.

So, I thought to myself, if I can't find anything solid on any of these kinds of sites, how will anybody else? If only someone with a real name, someone who is an actual, verifiable person, with a real reputation and real works, were to write about whether any of these things actually perform...

But wait! Aren't I such a person? Hundreds of my articles have been published, covering a huge variety of topics. My books are solid. My name's been in magazines.

I'm about as far from a made-up identity as a person can get. Those of you who are familiar with my works might disagree with some of what I've written, but you know that I always play it straight, telling things as I see them regardless of personal gain or loss. And I write under my real name.

So it was that I decided to do a study. I'd conduct an experiment to see what I could learn about the authenticity of PTC sites, setting my skepticism (and common sense) aside. It was February when I started. Eight months later, I'm finally able to report my
