Should there be no religion? That has been a question since the dawn of time. People always have felt secure with religion because they knew a higher being would watch over them. And religion has spawned us all our morales and laws because we think we have to be morally good so we can live a happy afterlife. Imsaying without religion we wouldn't be evil but most of our morales would be very lowly rated. People would do what they want and civilization would not be able to stand without one universal belief. And since the early civilizations didn't have our government or our so called "rights" they needed something to unify them. But now since we have all these laws already in motion and a common belief in society and democracy and the common goodness that has been drilled into our skulls since we could understand people. Now that the world is set it seems that it would be easier without religion, no more religious killings, no more wars over religion. But without religion there is no hope in the afterlife. No hope if your sick or dying and can't get the medicine. With religion you always have hope the higher being will save you if you are good enough. So in its entirety religion is a give and take idea. Without we would be happy but empty. With it, it would be hard but we know that someone is always watching over us. Do you want to live an empty life? I personally am Agnostic. I as a human believe we can't know if there is a higher being or not. We aren't super beings we can be omnipotent we can't be anything that we attribute to this person or being that commands so much awe. If we could know all that then what need would we have for religion. I say that with religion comes responsibility. Yes a corny line but one that says something. If you start a religion or believe yours is the right one you shouldn't push it onto other people with force. You should win them over with kindness. Not killing them in a religious war or torturing people in the name of God, or Allah, or the flying spaghetti monster. So you keep to yourself and hope they come to believe what you think is right and if they think they are right all hope to them. Because there is a possibility for everything. The only way to know is to die and I hope that I won't find out for a long time. So with religion we should have it but have it safely. No pushing or shoving or killing. As the old saying goes and eye for an eye leaves us all blind.
