Poetry: Worship

Swollen

It's all in the chest

Pounding

Just let my head rest




Stinging as it comes

Crashing as it goes

Ecstasy abounds

Shouts to the flow




Power so great

Battled waged nigh

Between good and evil

Our God and I




For what were we made

The intention and purpose

Was it to revel and unveil

Or humbly offer worship?




Lifted hands and hallowed voices

Songs to the Lord, righteous choices

Obedience, reverence and respect

To the One who created, whom we often reject




For if it is so, that worship is our call

Why have I fallen, come against this wall

One not of brick, mortar, or stone

But principalities, evils that cut to the bone




With eyes shut deep, mouth gaping open

I raise my voice skyward, just simply hopin'

That I'm heard, the absurdity of it all

And learn to respect, the duty of the call...
