I first discovered Youtube.com in June of last year (2007), and I've been looking at it ever since. It has something for everybody.
For TV fans, there's a wide choice of clips from lots of TV Shows; especially some that we haven't seen in decades.\For example: The Pruitts of Southampton, He & She (which used to come on after Green Acres on Wednesday nights), Please Don't Eat the Daisies, It's About Time, Hawk (which starred Burt Reynolds), Nanny and the Professor, The Farmer's Daughter, Bridget Loves Bernie, Arnie, Karen (a short-lived mid'60's comedy that originally aired on NBC), My Little Margie, I Married Joan, The Lucy Show, T.H.E. Cat, and so forth. And speaking of Green Acres, they have the "The Price of Apples" episode that originally aired on the night of February 9, 1966; with the original commercials from that night.
There's also a lot of old TV commercials, especially the cigarette ones, until they got yanked off the air by Congress in 1970. You can even see clips of some of the old game shows such as Password, Match Game (both the 60's and the 70's version), Hollywood Squares, You Don't Say, To Tell the Truth, What's My Line, The Price is Right (the 60's version with Bill Cullen), Personality (a late-60's game show hosted by Larry Blyden), He Said, She Said (the forerunner to Tattletales), and Split Second (a 70's game show hosted by Tom Kennedy). And of course, they have a lot of the old network promos.
Movie fans will love the clips from both American and foreign-made films. Cartoon fans will love the clips from the some of the old cartoons such as Secret Squirrel, Magilla Gorilla, Casper the Friendly Ghost, the Beatles' cartoon, the Super Six, Cool Mc.Cool, Popeye, Beetle Bailey, Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse, Batfink, The Mighty Heroes (Tornado Man, Rope Man, Diaper Man), and so forth.
Soap opera fans can not only catch clips from General Hospital, One Life to Live, Days of Our Lives, and As the World Turns; but from some of the old ones such as The Secret Storm, The Edge of Night, Love of Life, and Search for Tomorrow.
Music fans will love the music videos and collections of some of the old 45 RPM records; songs that you just don't hear on the radio anymore.
Serious news fans will love the clips from the JFK and Martin Luther King Assassinations, the University of Texas Tower Shootings, local and national newscasts from stations all across the country.
Why should you have to spend a fortune on cable TV when you can just simply switch over to Youtube and watch the same thing that you would normally see on television. And with the changeover to digital TV in February, if your TV set goes blank because you don't have one of those converters, you won't be stuck without any TV,
