always be with the Lord. So encourage each other with these words."
and Yahshua himself said (Matt 24:31):
"He (the Son of Man) will send out his angels with a great shofar, and they will gather together his chosen people from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
I see a connection between Rosh Hashanah and the time of the Messiah; for those who believe, His 2nd coming, and for those who await, his coming.
You know, I often ask myself how my brothers and sisters will be ready, will even recognize and know to answer the call; will they know even what the shofar is, the trumpet? Will they continue to follow the times of man and not YHWH's holy and appointed times? As Christians we are supposedly following the "leader" or head of what we call the 'church' who is our namesake, Christ, and yet, we have chosen to follow the ways of man. It puzzles me no end.
Rosh Hashanah, the Day of Judgment, the Feast of Trumpets; we are told the Messiah will come to Judge. How can we not see the connection here in this day? Will we miss our own judgment? No. But, will we be ready, be prepared, be able to respond? I don't think so, for what is practised here on earth is a prelude to our eternal journey and we sure haven't gotten it right thus far on earth. We will surely be lost in the eternal journey; entering blindly and as dumb sheep.
Isaiah wrote about the regathering of the remnant at the time of the second coming of our Messiah. Isaiah 27:12-13 says, "In that day the Lord will thresh from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, O Israelites will be gathered up one by one. And in that day a great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled inEgypt will come and roship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem."
Please, please take note that it is the "Israelites" not the "jews" as is commonly spoken! There is a big, big difference, at least as far as my unfolding understanding is concerned. Jews are descendants of Judah; there are many other tribes of Israel!
The period from now to Yom Kippur, the 10 Days of Awe, I have found to be a wonderful time each year, since being lead to these holy days by the hand of YHWH. A time of introspection, self-examination, forgiveness, forgiving and seeking forgiveness, in anticipation of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
How can a christian person not see how holy Yom Kippur is in the eyes of YHWH? We profess through the hills and mountaintops that Yahshua is our "atonement"; can we not see the connection.
When I sat to write to this article, I had no idea what was coming of these fingertips. If I sound confused or come off confusing, forgive me. There is so much Truth and Wealth and Life in YHWH's appointed times; so much lifegiving to be found in following His Way(s). I am deeply saddened by my former brothers and sisters who have willingly and knowingly chosen to continue in the ways of man over those of the Creator.
May we have ears to hear the sounding of the Trumpet as it announces the coming of the Messiah!
La Shana Tova...new year, new beginnings; a clean slate and a chance to start all over again. Surely as His mercies are new every morning, how much more so in wiping the late clean from yesterday's blunders and failings!
