Rosh Hashanah and Yahshua; there is a connection and I've read over the years that many of the rabbis saw this connection, the one between Rosh Hashanah and the coming of the Messiah. In the 8th century CE the following commentary was written:
"Messiah ben David (son of David), Elijah and Zerubbabel, peace be upon him, will ascend the Mount of Olives. And Messiah will command Elijah to blow the shofar. The light of the six days of Creation will return and will be seen, the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and God will send full healing to all the sick of Israel. The second blast which Elijah will blow will make the dead rise. They will rise from the dust and each man will recognize his fellow man, and so will husband and wife, father and son, brother and brother. All will come to the Messiah from the four corners of the earth, from east and from west, from north and from south. The Children of Israel will fly on the wings of eagles and come to the Messiah ... [Ma'ase Daniel as quoted in Patai, p. 143)."
In looking at Yahshua and learning what we have been able to, despite what mainstream Christianity says and celebrates, in all likelihood he was born in the late fall, not the winter. Look at the life of Yahshua, what little we are told in what is commonly referred to as the "New Testament". Is it possible that besides being born at this time of the year, he was baptized by John the Baptist in the Fall;at this time we celebrate, Rosh Hashanah? And, immediately following his baptism he was lead by the spirit and was tempted for 40 days. Is there a parallel relationship, a connection between the 40 days of Awe and the 40 days of temptation? Are there such things as coincidence where the hand of YHWH is concerned? I like to believe, and a read of Scripture will prove many cases to be true, that there are indeed key and significant dates or times of a year, that repeat themselves for key events in the journey of man, in his relationship with the Creator.
In direct correlation to the quote above, hear what Paul wrote in 1 Thess 4:16-18, and see the connection:
"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a rousing cry, with a call from one of the ruling angels, and with God's shofar [Rosh Hashanah is announced by the blowing of the shofar]; those who died united with the Messiah will be the first to rise; then we who are left still alive will be caught up (Latin - rapture) with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we will
