Victimless Crimes
The court systems are back logged. Do we really need to take the time and expense to prosecute crimes that have no victims? Of course not.
Most people don't know that Judges do more than sit and listen, then make a decision regarding guilt or innocence. Judges are loaded down with paperwork and scheduling. They are responsible for their own calendars. They must see to it that every word uttered in their courtroom is documented. They spend hours and hours looking into precedents (past cases), law books and transcripts.
Do we really need them wasting their time on victimless crimes when so many other cases, with victims, are waiting for judgement? Absolutely not.
What happened to freedom of choice? If a person wants to degrade themselves by involvement in sex for hire, who cares?
What does marijuana really do to alter a person's mind? Studies show that it simply relaxes them, much in the same way Valium does. So what? Why is this the government's business?
I would rather be on the highway surrounded by people who are high on pot rather than surrounded by drunks. The high people are laid back, they are relaxed and in a happy place. They still have full control of their mind. They are not going to pass out behind the wheel. Most people who are high are at home, eating everything in sight.
I am wondering when we became a nation that thinks we need to judge everything and everyone.
Our judicial system is messed up. Judges are letting child abusers out of prison only to find they are not "all better" now, they assault another child and we take them back into the system, spend zillions of dollars on trying to figure them out through mental health services and then end up releasing them again.
We also spend zillions of taxpayer dollars on prosecuting prostitution and marijuana offenders. Why? Are they a menace to society? Are they a threat to the children and future of this country? I think not. Other countries legalize prostitution and marijuana and theses people are not running amuck terrorizing the country, bring it down or in any way shape or form a menace to the society.
The only illegal tie I can find to prostitution and marijuania is sales tax evasion. So legalize it and start making these people pay taxes. This is exactly what the government has done in other issues, such as casino type gambling in bars, they simply legalized it and then held out their hand for their fair share...aka...taxes.
Now THAT is the AMERICAN WAY.
