Poetry: God's despair

by Belinda Jolly

Created on: September 30, 2008

Can you imagine creating a world full of beauty

and a man named Adam, a living soul?

Giving him a wife named Eve and a pleasant life of ease,

giving them the very best to make them whole.

Then into the garden comes the sneaky Lucifer,

says they will not die if they eat of the tree.

God comes down to walk with them in the cool of the evening,

just to find them hiding, knowing they see.

Can you imagine loving a world full of sinners

so much that you would send them your only Son?

Let Him die upon a tree, that their souls might be set free,

just to see them turn their backs and toward sin run.

He promised that He'd come again, He sent His Spirit back to dwell within,

so that they could overcome and have victory.

Yet they say that He's not real, that His Spirit they can't feel.

Many are blinded though they can see.

Can you imagine being in His place,

knowing that what He'd made himself was sinful and yet find grace,

to let His only Son come and live and die to show

that only He could love all men even though they'd be so low?
