Gone are the days when stamps are still the major component to ensure that letters are sent through the post office. With the innovation of the internet, the days that it takes for a snail mail to arrive to the recipient now just take a couple of seconds through emails, cell phones and through other instant messaging systems.

The use of stamps nowadays is greatly dependent on business transactions as well as transfer of documents but these things are still declining. Despite the lesser demand for stamps, they dramatically increased from being a couple of cents in the past decades to more than a dollar in some cases these days.
