Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a world renowned destination for the skiing enthusiasts and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Roughly 100 Kilometres from Rocky Mountain National Park, Steamboat Springs attracts nature lovers, skiing enthusiasts (and snowboarders, mountain bikers, and the normal crowd of eco-tourists that converge upon mountainous areas), team-building resorts for companies and sporting teams, golfing enthusiasts and naturalists alike for as many different reasons as there are facilities in this picturesque, ever growing and well maintained hot-spot in Colorado. Although Steamboat Springs' airport is not large enough to accommodate the larger air carriers, private aircraft and leased or executive jets can land at the towns' airport. All commercial air carriers have to land at either Denver, a one and a half hour's drive from Steamboat Springs, or Yampa Valley Airport, which has no regular bus service to Steamboat Springs, but does have taxis, rental vehicles and paid shuttle services to the ski resort town. Be prepared to pay at least $52 per adult, and $26 per child and senior citizen for return shuttle service to the town from the closest airport to the resort-dotted picturesque town.
Once you have made it to the city of Steamboat Springs (a name that resonates of the Old West, card-playing, horse-riding days of old), transportation is not a major concern. Transportation tips for Seamboat Springs, Colorado would include the use of city buses, which are free and frequent. Together with the shuttle buses that run frequently between resorts and the town, some free and some with reasonable fares, and run from resort to resort, Steamboat Springs makes the use of private transportation a non-necessity. Taxis, limousines, and a "green Limousine" service that runs on bio-diesel fuels, and even provides the users with organic beer and wine during the trip, can all be used to get your groups from place to place on time and in a comfortable manner. You can golf in the morning, ski in the afternoon and hit the town's nightlife for the evenings, or just wander aimlessly around, taking in the breathtaking scenery and architecture that is renowned for this area, with camera in hand.
And the skiing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado is, of course, world class. There are a myriad of resorts, hotels, spas and condominiums available for staying at while vacationing in Steamboat Springs, and there are free and frequent shuttles and city busses that provide transportation all day and through to the early morning hours between them and the sporting venues and the restaurants and nightlife that make Steamboat Springs a truly unique environment. Situated in the same geographical area that provides Vail, Colorado and The Rocky Mountain National Park for your viewing and sporting pleasures, once you get to Steamboat Springs, a private vehicle is really not a necessity.
Another charming aspect of Steamboat Springs is the availability of golf carts which can be rented, and used for getting to and from the major venues and entertainment facilities including, of course, many golf courses (drinking and driving rules still apply for driving golf carts, with the same criminal results for each, so save the shuttles and city buses for the nights when enjoying the bar scene in this active and festive town). However, if your tastes and needs require the use of a vehicle, there are many rental outfits that provide cheap, efficient rental vehicles to classy, elegant rentals of Cadillac Escalades.
