Swimming is one of the avenues where their skills could be honed in the field of sports. Swimming is a lot of fun as teens develop an athletic and fit body. This sport would also be able to improve their social skills and this would inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship in them.
There are many swim teams that give out applications and auditions from interested teenagers. This is a good avenue for teens to be exposed more in this type of sport. This could also be a stepping stone for their skills to be noticed especially if they place well in competitions. Swim teams are really good ways to provide adequate exposure for teens to make it to big competitions in the field of swimming.
BUDGET
To join a swim team, you don't just go there with your old swimsuit or your shorts and sports bra. You need to invest in buying a number of swimsuits, team jacket, swimming cap, goggles, fins etc that may be needed both in trainings and competitions. Aside from these, there could also be some registration fees or competition fees that you need to pay.
You have to be open to the possibility that you need to cash out some money especially in the beginning since you have to comply with the requirements of the team. Teens should always let their parents know if so that they will know if their parents are willing to support them financially with their decision of joining the swim team.
LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE
Before you join a swim team, you have to assess your level of experience. A swim team may be different from a club but some already use the word interchangeably. However, in both ways, there would always be members who excel and there are also members who are just starting out to further improve their swimming skills.
Anyway, in a swim team or club, expect that members vary from beginners to experts. In your first day of training, the coach will surely ask the members on their levels of expertise so make sure that you know if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced in swimming so that the coach will be able to help you for your skills to be honed properly. Remember that you are in the team so that you will become an expert in swimming and that it doesn't matter on what level of experience you had before you joined the team.
WILLINGNESS
Never join a swim team if in the first place you really have double thoughts of getting yourself involved in it. You should never sign up for swim teams only because your friends or your parents want you to join the team. You would
