Reflections: The top 10 things you want to do in your life

by Joelle Synclair

Created on: September 30, 2008

Through the years my top ten has changed as much as I change. Yet, it is fun to dream and take self inventory on my life. I hope that one day some of these will make to "the top ten things I have done in my life."

10. Visit Africa: When I was a kid i loved to read all about animal life on the savannah and imagine going on safari.

9. Adopt a child: Although I have four children of my own, I still have a desire to adopt a child one day. My husband and I both have discussed this option many times. This is not in the cards at this moment in our lives but one day we hope to make it a reality.

8. Build a house: Very simple but yet something that seems so far off for me right now. I want to build a fairly large house with tons of land in the country.

7. Take my daughters to Europe: When I was seventeen, my mom and I set off for Europe together. I still cherish every moment of our trip together. It was a fun way to spend time together and build memories that still make us laugh and dream.

6. Learn to like football: I hate football. I don't understand what in the world is going on during a game. I have a son who adores football. He dreams of one day playing professional football. My husband loves watching football on tv and wants to go to more games as a family. I know I dislike it mostly because I don't understand it and therefore find it boring. So, I am trying to learn to like it for my husband and son.

5. Shoot a gun: Yet another simple thing but something I want to do nonetheless. I have never shot a gun but have always wanted to see what kind of gunslinger I would be.

4. Repay my husband for all he does; This is not monetary repayment. I want to find a way to clearly express to my husband in a grand fashion how much I love him and appreciate him.

3. Open a bakery: One of my favorite hobbies is baking. I don't bake as much as I used to and want to find more time to devote to it. I have what I believe is a great gimmick for a bakery and would love to make it a reality some day.

2. Drive in a RV across the grand ole USA: Although my husband has no interest in this I would love to make this a family summer. I want to stop at all the kooky places that claim to have the biggest hot dog bun or the cow with six legs. I would love to see the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. Best of all, I want to experience it with my husband and kids.

1. Publish a book: Well, I know anyone these days can publish a book with all those self publishing websites. I have several ideas for books but with four kids I hardly have time to write more than articles and a blog. I would love to express myself creatively by writing a book that actually sells!
