Was Jesus' mother Mary divine or just human?
I must start this with an apology, because this will sound harsh and sarcastic. But it needs to be said. Forgive me, for I am a teacher of the Word. The Bible. The Scriptures. And all that It says. No. I do not know all things pertaining to God. However, I try to be sincere and honest without ulterior motives in my learning. Therefore, I come from that angle. That being said:
I love questions like this; to me the answer is simple. The problem many have is that they simply do not believe the Bible. They pick and chose what they want to believe. Then wonder why their faith is waning.
The Scriptures in the last chapter of the book of Revelations, it tells us not to add or take away from the Word. In addition, in 2 Timothy 3: 16 it tells us that all scripture is given by inspiration of God although it was written or penned by man.
So knowing this, in the case of "The virgin Mary" If she were divine then the Scriptures would have told us so.
I certainly do not mean any disrespect to our fellow Catholics, but their doctrine is the one that spreads these things, and they are not Biblically based. I certainly understand the inspiration of the Holy Ghost such as revelation knowledge. But again, if it does not line up with the Word of God then you might want to re-think your findings.
What they have actually done is to raise Mary above Jesus in many ways.
The Gospel of Mathew chapter 1 we see the generations before Jesus, All being prophesized in Scripture. "The root of Jesse" From Isaiah 11:10 and Romans 15:12 Joseph being of the tribe of King David and Mary believed to be of the tribe of Judah.
I recall hearing a story something about how the Mother of Mary was immaculately conceived with the child Mary. If that were so, wouldn't that be in scriptures? If God thought enough to write down the 42 generations before Jesus, told in prophesy, then why would he leave out such an important detail as Mary's Mothers so called Immaculate Conception?
I believe that the problem lies in that some cannot understand how Jesus being born of the flesh yet without sin, (Hebrews 4:15), can come from a woman who has sinful flesh. Never mind the fact that God himself touched her womb.
We have the disbelief from those who do not believe in Jesus and not acknowledging that Jesus was a virgin birth. Then you have believers, believing that the Virgin was divinely conceived like her Son. "Oh and were not done". Then the Catholic doctrine goes on to say that
