Wow what a heavy title to opt for especially now when credit bang means beauty treats and pedis and manis are the first to be zapped off the essentials list
The "dictatorship of beauty", this must mean that all us gals with even half a pea sized brain do not conform to the standard idyll which can be anyting from "Hollywood siren", to luscious cocktail waitress either way it's a regime that dictates how the world perceives us and how we take on the world.
But in effect sisters all over the world do care about the way they look and how they appear not just to friends, family and work colleagues but to random strangers and the coffe shop guy and thre hairdresser and all those people that stand on the fringe of your world . You do give a teensy damn if your nails look grimy on a trip to the manicurst ( maybe not so much now that credit chic has allowed you some easy manitenance grace ) and you do care if you're shopping for groceries or clothes and the attendant sees what you're wearing . Of course with the right amount of dosh and oodles of soft focus lighting we can all be pretty much who we want to be .But that crucially might not be who we are !
Sultry chanteuse Amy is a case in point , she is not the archetypal beauty and has no air brushing or blemish erasing tricks to conceal her pain which is esentially
