As an avid movie fan I try to keep up with all the latest movies. However I haven't seen many lately that is really worth watching. I would like to put Righteous Kill in this category but since I haven't seen it yet I can't say that it is one of the best pictures of 2008. Considering it stars Robert Dinero and Al Pacino I'm sure it is.

Death race would have to be one of my picks. Jason Statham (Transporter fame) is a prisoner in the year 2020. Penal systems are controlled by corporations and they web cast the famous death races. This is a killer movie. Lots of action, a great plot, and terrific stars.

The Dark Knight, is one of my favorites. I despaired of anyone ever playing the Joker as well as Jack Nicholson, but I would have to say Heath Ledger did. It was a good movie and it kept me on the edge, but it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Of course I've never really been a fan of Batman.

Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. That was an awesome movie. Good vs evil and a traitor in the midst. I've never really been a fan of comics but for some reason this movie caught my attention. Perhaps it was the song Iron Man. I'm a big fan of Ozzy and Black Sabbath. No that wasn't the real reason. The previews looked great and I'm glad that I did see Iron man.

Kung Fu Panda, starring Jack Black, along with the voices of some well known stars. That was a movie for children and adults alike. There was also a lesson to be learned. Never give up. If its your destiny then you can prevail. Po rose from a noodle server to a dragon warrior with the help of others. Team work, that's the way of things.

Forbidden Kingdom was another of my favorite movies of 2008. Jackie Chan played dual roles as did Jet Li. It was great to see these two together and their martial arts scenes proved the talent of these two stars.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Most of the time I do not like sequels, but this one was worth watching. It kept the original stars, and showed an older version of the O'Connells son Luke.
Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and Evelyn O'Connell (Maria Bello) have retired and are quite bored with their lives till their son Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) brings adventure back into their lives. And once again another movie with Jet Li playing a stunning role as Emperor Han.

These are probably not the critics favorites but in my opinion these are the best movies of 2008, that is the movies that I have seen. There will be more because 2008 isn't over yet.
