Maybe it's another world of comfort, so comfortable, the hand grabs a pen or pencil and goes on auto pilot. Then thoughts are sent from the heart, to the brain, from the brain down to the hand. A special message only can be expressed at your pace. fast writing can't really express a feeling in writing, cause theirs so much left behind, hand wouldn't give the brain and heart time. The heart messages has a pace, that we can't control, and it's very able to left behind. Heart, Brain, hand, three, that's the source of writing poetry.
