You want to become wise...read and listen carefully, an important step to becoming wise. These steps are in no particular order. But even their randomness speaks volumes:
1. Learn from your mistakes-A well-known one, but a thing that people seem to avoid like a plague, thinking that the same way of doing things, perhaps with some minor to moderate modifications will get it done...anyways. Sometimes people can be obtuse, thinking that the old way of doing things will still get them there, or what they were desirous of. On your steps to wisom, learn from your mistakes. Exponentially, things can only get worse for you if you don't learn from your mistakes. Karma and fate may forgive you the first or second time, but it'll crash in on you if you don't learn from them. Remember the old saying: "Live and Learn."
2. Listen, observe, read and watch-Another important step towards becoming wise. Knowledge is the heart and soul of our society, as evidenced by the Internet. Ironically, many people are on the Internet, but not everybody absorbs the knowledge this fantastic invention helps bring. Or they don't absorb the right knowledge or amounts of. Learn! Learn! Learn! Remember the saying, being forewarned is forearmed. Read and listen till your eyes burn out of your socket and your ears are ringing like church bells. You can become very wise by absorbing all kinds of knowledge.
3. Be a good person-A hard thing for people in a cynical, pessimistic society to do. In a society that always seems to be on the verge of collapsing, with most people seemingly fighting 'guerilla' warfare just to survive. In a world where trust is not in great abundance, being good is another important step towards being wise. Goodness, not necessarily saintness, allows people to grow and expand themselves through wisdom that is part and parcel of non-negative thinking that can expand consciousness.
4. Positive thinking-Be positive as much as you humanly can. Positive thinking allows you to see so much more, greatly enhancing conventional wisdom. Your mind opens to all of the realities and possibilities, allowing you to vibrate along the same frequencies as wisdom. Negative thinking means extreme narrowness of vision that excludes the realities and possibilities behind a pall of darkness that can't be breached by any instrument, no matter how intricate and complicated.
5. Talk as much as you can to as many people as possible-Talking to people is also part of a learning curve. A cross-spectrum of humanity is chalked full of wisdom, knowledge and experience. Talking to many people builds up your own well of wisdom through their accumulated knowledge, be it good or bad. After all, even people having negative experiences is a virtual gold mine of knowledge of wisdom for you. You know which things to avoid...but don't get mired in their negativity.
6. Do something very intricate and complicated everyday. This helps open your brain up to many different ways of wisdom. Even a crossword everyday can help shape the ways to wisdom. Play chess, video games, card games, whatever that stimulates the imagination. Even writing events about events in your own life gets those mental neurons moving, like a blog or other Internet postings.
7. Live a long life-Take care of yourself to live a long life. With long living, and the trials and tribulations that go along with it (and the subsequent learning curve that goes along with it), great wisdom can occur. Unfortunately, not everybody does acquire great wisdom over time. But even those who don't, they acquire some wisdom. But the steps underlined inbetween should be great enough to help along the way.
